Intercultural Fluencies in Teaching and Learning

A Self-Paced Module Series for Educators at U of T

The Intercultural Fluencies in Teaching and Learning program is a six-module, self-paced series designed to support Teaching Assistants, graduate student instructors, and faculty members in developing intercultural competency skills for teaching in diverse classroom environments.

Whether you’re new to teaching or experienced, international or domestic, this series is accessible to all and offers practical strategies to foster inclusive, responsive, and dynamic learning spaces.

What you will learn:

Grounded in the Enhancing Intercultural Learning Framework (EILF), this series will help you:

  • Understand how cultural differences impact learning and assessment.
  • Navigate teaching in a culturally diverse institutional context using the EILF’s knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
  • Apply inclusive pedagogical strategies that promote humility, collaboration, and intercultural fluency.
  • Integrate Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and culturally responsive teaching into curriculum and assessment design.
