Experiental Learning: Moving Teaching Beyond the Classroom (In-Person)

The pedagogical space is not limited to the physical classroom. Experiential learning provides demonstrable benefits to students by bringing their learning in contact with ‘real world’ experiences. But not knowing how to incorporate experiential learning into your course design can be a deterrent for instructors. The University of Toronto has a vast network of spaces available to instructors and students: printing rooms, recording spaces, the UTSC farm, the experiential learning hub to name a few are all available to students and faculty. This roundtable proposes to connect participants with best practices and existing resources at the University of Toronto as a way of deepening practices of experiential learning. Derived from SoTL principles, this roundtable focuses on how to incorporate forms of experiential learning in the classroom and provide deeper and more diverse techniques for learning.
