Crafting Your Pedagogy: Responses to AI in Writing-Based Disciplines

Many instructors and TAs in writing-based disciplines have been grappling with how to deal with AI in the classroom. TAs have been reading more AI-generated essays and course instructors have been finding it difficult to create new assignments that still help students learn to write and think through writing. This workshop, which stems from conversations with faculty, TAs and CIs about their response to using AI in the classroom in writing-based disciplines, is structured as a problem-solving session to help develop pedagogical reactions to AI. Whether this is finding ways of using AI as a pedagogical tool, or ways of having conversations with students about the ethics of AI, this workshop will help you develop your own pedagogical response to this technology.
