Active Learning Lab: Transforming Passive to Active Learning (In-Person)
March 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
This two-hour interactive workshop equips Teaching Assistants (TAs) with the knowledge and skills to design and facilitate effective active learning techniques. Participants will explore a variety of active learning techniques, evaluate their applicability across disciplines, and learn to adapt these strategies for diverse student groups.
Through hands-on activities and peer collaboration, participants will practice designing active learning exercises, facilitating inclusive group discussions, and assessing the impact of their methods. The workshop’s experiential learning approach ensures TAs leave with actionable strategies to foster equitable student engagement, promote deep learning, and create inclusive classroom environments.
This session is ideal for TAs seeking to enhance their teaching effectiveness by integrating evidence-based, inclusive active learning practices into their instructional toolkit.
