TA Month 2026

September 2026

TA Month is a month-long series of professional development and job training opportunities offered by the Teaching Assistants’ Training Program (TATP). Designed for both new and returning Teaching Assistants, TA Month provides opportunities to develop teaching skills, connect with fellow graduate educators, and prepare for the academic year.

Professional Development Sessions

Many TA Month sessions are recognized within one or more TATP Certificate Programs. Certificate eligibility is identified throughout the schedule, allowing you to select sessions that align with your professional development interests while making progress toward certificate requirements.

FTHE: Fundamentals of Teaching in Higher Education Certificate
AIP: Accessible and Inclusive Teaching Certificate
CD: Course Design Certificate

Participants can learn more about available certificates and their requirements on the Certificate Programs Website.

Job Training Sessions

TA Month also includes opportunities for TAs to complete or supplement their paid job training requirements. First-time TAs are entitled to four hours of paid training, while returning TAs may be eligible for additional paid training with departmental approval. Depending on departmental requirements and approval, selected TA Month sessions may be used to fulfill these training obligations. Please consult your department for guidance regarding your job training plan.

Please Note: First Contract Training sessions identified as Job Training cannot be counted towards and TATP certificate programs.
