Translating TA Skills into a Career (Online)

Graduate students often underestimate the impact of their teaching assistant (TA) experience in preparing them with skills that set the stage for future careers. This workshop will demonstrate how the TA role can build skills in leadership, collaboration, organization, and inclusivity and adaptability, and will support TAs in recognizing and articulating the professional skills developed through the TA role.

The workshop will include an interactive component that guides participants in translating their TA experiences into action-based statements for professional documents and digital profiles with examples from their own teaching. The discussion will focus on how to write accessible and authentic professional summaries, how to align profile content with professional goals, and how to use online spaces to represent teaching identity confidently and inclusively.
