TA Month: Troubleshooting TA Challenges: Humanities and Social Sciences (Online)
September 29 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT
Teaching Assistantships involve balancing multiple roles, including teacher, facilitator, mentor, administrator, and employee. In humanities and social sciences classrooms, these responsibilities can give rise to a range of challenges, such as facilitating difficult discussions, encouraging student participation, responding to unexpected questions, managing competing demands on your time, and navigating the boundaries of your role.
This workshop explores common challenges faced by TAs in the humanities and social sciences, with particular attention to the unique position of graduate students as both learners and instructors. Through discussion and interactive case studies, participants will examine real-world teaching scenarios, reflect on possible responses, and develop practical strategies for navigating complex situations with confidence and professionalism.
Offered as part of TA Month. Visit the TA Month Website for more information.
